2019: Plateau PDP musters stakeholders to reclaim power

Former governors, ministers, and stakeholders in Plateau State have pledged to bury their differences, in order to recapture power come 2019. This was to a large extent, as the People Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday 8, October, 2016 inaugurated Re-conciliatory Committee to appeal to all aggrieved Party members in the State.
The occasion was the first to host the heavy weights in the Plateau PDP, since after the 2015 general elections, especially Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun, an ex-governor and founding member of the party. Another heavy weight who greeted the occasion was the immediate past governor, now Senator, Jonah David Jang. The event was the first to host the two heavy weights, who fell apart after the 2014 PDP governorship primary elections. Tapgun and Jang pleaded to party members to forget the past and focus on rebuilding the party to take back its rightful place in the State.
In his remark, Amb. Fedelis Tapgun said, “this is the first time I am appearing in any PDP Party activity, since after the December 8 governorship primary elections, that made me to work against the party by asking my followers to vote the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Gov. Simon Lalong. “Since then I have been on sabbatical, praying and asking God to forgive all of us for the injury we inflicted on the people of Plateau by allowing the APC to capture power. “We have all committed atrocities against the party, but I think God has forgiven us, as I am confident He has answered our prayers”, Tapgun said.
Also speaking at the occasion, Sen. Jang appealed to Party members to let go off every bitterness and lamentations, saying that what has happened, can only be changed with committed and strong Party faithfuls. He agreed to the fact that his action of imposition, brought about the down fall of the party, but said that God has forgiven them all, just as Amb. Tapgun has said. He said the Party is also getting it right at the National level, even as prominent Nigerians, such as the former Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, are mediating in the crisis rocking the Party between the Ali Modu Sheriff faction and Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
