Fire Outbreak Razes Down UNIJOS Library Located At School’s Permanent Site



No fewer than six hours wild fire suspected to have been cause by careless electrical fault has wreaked havoc to the permanent site library of the University of Jos threatening the closing of other faculties.
The suspected fire outbreak which happened on Saturday evening at about 8: pm burnt down the Library located at the permanent site of the University of Jos, it also partly touched the faculty of Arts as well as departments such as business studies and accounting.
The inferno which destroyed valuables worth millions of naira took fire service personnel several hours to bring it under control.
The library edifice that was engulfed in wild fire which lasted several hours thereby damaging internet facilities and books when some students are writing the semester examination.
“You would recall two years ago a library location at Bauchi road was burned down but recorded no death but items worth million were destroyed “.
However, efforts to contact the university Librarian proved abortive as the professor declined comment as he said he is still going round to access the level of damage.
According to some students who were struggling to control the fire from spreading to other faculties lamented the absence of men of the fire service in time.
