The country Representative of Bullet
Energy drink and Cranberry, Mr Anthony Uche has chosen Plateau state as the
first pilot state for training 20 young boxers to begin their career.
Uche made this disclosure at a press
conference organized by Bullet energy drink to promote sporting activities and
encourage youths to participate in boxing.
He called on the youths to see a
future in modern boxing which will make them earn their livelihood.
Some of the coaches, Mr Emmanuel
Abdu , Sabo Mohammed and Paul Tunlong all complained that the problem affecting
the future of boxing in Plateau state has to do with lack of motivation
,publicity among the young boxers.
They raised concern that the state
chapter lack exposure and modern training equipment with the nonpayment of
salary by government as also a major setback to the future of boxing.
The Director of Sports Plateau
state, Mr Gurum Dapar commended bullet energy drink for making Plateau state
their pilot state to promote boxing in Nigeria.
He explained that with the quick
intervention of bullet in nursing and encouraging youths to embrace boxing, the
sky would be their limit, as he urges interested youths to register.
Dapar added that promoting sporting
activities by providing equipment will go a long way to encourage grassroot
exercise with adequate sensitization.
According to him, there is money in
boxing with diversification and introduction of new program that will open
window of opportunities to harness skills.
