4,899 Plateau LG Staff Get Promotion Letters

4,899 Staff of the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau have been issued letters of promotion, through the Plateau State Local Government Service Commission.

Announcing the the cheering news to Directors of Personal Management (DPMs) from the 17 LGAs, Chairman of the Plateau State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Robert Taple explained that the promotions is in line with the APC led administration in the state to boost human capital developmentin line with the Manifesto of the rescue administration.

He further said that he is handing over the promotion letters of all the local government staff to the DPMs for onward distribution to the staff according to their local government of service.

Speaking on the convertions of staff who have acquired additional qualifications in the course of service, Chairman of LGSC posited that the board will soon start the posting and reposting of staff who have stayed up to ten years at a particular duty station and effecting the upgrade of staff according to their new qualifications simultaneously.

Speaking on behalf of the DPMs, Mr. Caleb Gullek who is the DPM of Jos East LGC was full of praise to the Governor Simon Bako Lalong led government for prompt payment of staff salaries, payment of no work, no pay salary arears, training and other welfare for staff which they have been benefitting.

He called on all civil servants to support the government of the day and desist from partisan politics as enshrined in the civil service rules.

So far, a total of 10,247 local government staff have been promoted in three tranches.

Why Lalong deserves a second term - Tokma

The Secretary to the Government of Plateau State Sir Richard Tokma mni, KSM has enjoined the good people of the State to consider giving the APC led Rescue Administration another four years to consolidate on the developmental strides it has achieved this far.

Sir Tokma who opined that the Governor Simon Bako Lalong led administration is people oriented; also said that for the purpose of continuity and rapid socio-economic development of our dear Plateau, it's necessary for Plateau citizens vote for APC enmasse in the forth coming polls.

The Secretary to the Government of the State stated this when members of the Plateau State Independent Publishers Association, PIPA led by its Chairman, Chief Amb. Nanyah Andrew Daman paid him a courtesy call in his Office at the old Government House, Rayfield.

He reeled out the achievements of Governor Simon Bako Lalong administration in the last four years to include: the establishment of the Plateau State Entrepreneurship Development Agency, PLASMEDA which has helped our youths become business owners; completion of all abandoned projects in the state, especially the Maraban Jama'a - Yakubu Gowan road; consolidating on the fragile peace in the state through dialogue and engagement of stakeholders at all levels among others.

The SGS also called on PIPA to always be fair and balanced in their reportage, especially at the critical period of election campaigns, avoid personality attacks and issues that will heat up the polity.

Narrating the purpose of their visit, Chairman of PIPA, Chief Amb. Nanyah Andrew Daman said the purpose of PIPA's visit is show its commitment to the development of Plateau State and reiterate their commitment to partner with the State Government through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State so as to effectively disseminate government's policies and programmes to the people at the grassroots.

He went further to state that the administration of Governor Simon Bako Lalong has achieved alot and is doing so much for Plateau people which goes unnoticed.

Daman also hinted that media owners on the Plateau, they are willing to go into a mutually benefitting partnership with the state government to enable them use their various media platforms to tell Plateau people what the government is doing and why it deserves another four years.

Rume’s Annual Empowerment Scheme: Over 80 youths benefited

The organizer of the event Mr. Raphael Rume said, he was inspired by the memory of his late father Mr. Thomas H Rume, who used education to impact on the lives of people around him, hence the nick name “teacher”

He said, “I was also moved by the fact that I do not need huge amount of money before I can change the life of someone, and I have come to realize that many students in Mile 8 Fer Pankshin could not aspire to go for university education simply because they could not afford to buy JAMB form. Therefore, I took the initiative to sponsor at least 80 students who have graduated from secondary school and have the necessary requirements but could not afford to buy JAMB form”.  

The Rume, Annual Empowerment Scheme for students of Mile 8 Fer occasion featured series of lectures and mentoring sessions for the benefiting students, as well all final year students from Mile 8 Fer. Two key guest speakers and several professionals invited to the occasion mentored the students and youths present on subjects combination requirements to study courses in different fields, career choices and dangers of drugs among others social vices.

Mr. Lapshak Yilwada of the ICT Directorate, Federal University of Agriculture Markurdi popularly called Lapipi, tutored the youths on choices of SSCE subjects, JAMB subjects’ combination, cut-off marks and how to avoid making mistake in choice of institutions as regards catchment areas and courses offered. Mr. Lapshak also donated five JAMB Scratch cards to the participants.

The second speaker at the event Mr. Rotgak Danjuma Kassem, a Ph.D student with the University of Jos, lectured the youths on career guidance and dangers of drug abuse.  Mr. Rotgak identified the areas and the mistakes students often make in career choices. He maintained that students often fail to assess themselves in regards to their intellectual capacity, interests or passion before choosing to study in a particular field. More so, he emphasized that there is need to assess the economic environment to determine the opportunities that abound for a particular profession before attempting to build a career in such field of endeavor. He concluded that for them to achieve their career goals and aspirations, they need to imbibe diligence, patience and commitment. 

Other speakers at the event are Mr. Sunday Kaze, a lecturer with the Federal Collage of Education Pankshin, Mr. Kevin Manglibet who is also the coordinator of the Rume’sAnnual Empowerment Scheme, and Mr. Emmanuel Dyikuk, who anchored the event.

Goodwill messages came from the Benue State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Nentawe Yilwada who sponsored five JAMB scratch cards to support the scheme. He was represented at the occasion by Comrade Tonzum Barde. Others who delivered goodwill messages include a seasoned politician and APC chieftain Hon. Edward Dankum Sunkur, Deputy Register Federal Collage of Education Pankshin Mr. Longtong Iliya, an Agricultural officer Mr. Fidelis Atajang, and a football veteran Mr. Cletus Dabot.

Among the youths who expressed their appreciation was John Polycarp, Rotji Amos and Tinimi Shipi, they all expressed their profound gratitude and appreciation to the organizer of the event describing him as a “Knight in a Shining Armour” who have come to liberate them from the shackles of poverty and ignorance, they are also calling on the elites to always use their wealth of experiences and positions to touch the lives of the people at home most especially the youths.
